Church Hill Cafe With A Mission To Mentor

Writer's picture: Sonya FeeserSonya Feeser

Perfect little mornings made possible by @frontporchcaferva šŸ¤ I stumbled upon this cutesy cafe by recommendation of a friendā€¦and it is totally a hidden gem in my book! šŸ˜ Front Porch Cafe is more than just a neighborhood coffee shop. It values community over everything and has a mission to help East End youth acquire marketable skills, while running a pretty good cafe with some tasty breakfast and lunch options! As a part of the Church Hill Activities & Tutoring (CHAT)ā€™s Workforce Development Program, Front Porch is able to train and hire local adolescents aged 18-25 and provide them with mentoring and job experience before entering the workforce. Learning about their mission is actually what enticed me to finally try them outā€¦and I was NOT let down. Now for the menu review!

ā˜•ļø Pictured are the Chai Latte and hot chocolate! I loved my latte and the cute robin egg blue mug it came in šŸ¦šŸ’™ Super tasty and SO inexpensive for the size! Did you know they serve Blanchardā€™s Coffee here?

šŸ„Ŗ For food, I ordered the grilled ham and cheese sandwich which gave me all the feelings of home-cooked food šŸ„° Loved that it was oozing with cheese and they didnā€™t skimp on the hamšŸ§€

šŸ” Also pictured are the chicken breakfast sliders with potatoes which were almost too cute to eat (almost)

Front Porch Cafe has ample seating both indoor and outdoor and plenty of gluten free/vegan options. The cafe is located within a community center sponsored by Bon Secours and the Robins Foundation and is the perfect gathering space for people of all incomes. They even have a pay-it-forward program where you can help reduce the price of someone elseā€™s meal. The atmosphere is so different here and I really canā€™t put it into words except that it makes you feel right at home. šŸ  I canā€™t wait to return and get some work done on my laptop while enjoying a latte and some chicken and waffles! ā˜•ļøšŸ—šŸ§‡ Front Porch Cafe is about so much more than coffee, and I hope you choose to support their mission to give back to the community too. šŸ¤
