Richmond Ballet's SWAN LAKE: A Review

Updated: Sep 19, 2020

Started the day with a Richmond Ballet adult ballet class and ended the day with Richmond Ballet’s Swan Lake at the Dominion Energy Center/Carpenter Theater. The ballet featured Sarah Lane (who was the dancing double for Natalie Portman in the movie Black Swan) and Cory Stearns of American Ballet Theater (ABT). 🦢🖤🩰 The performance was absolutely STUNNING and had some of the best dancing I have EVER witnessed. 😍😩😭 I thought being perfect was impossible, but not when it comes to Sarah Lane who rocked it as Odette/Odile. The lighting, music (by the AWESOME Richmond Symphony), and smoke effects made the story of Swan Lake so believable and I may or may not have shed a tear at some points 😅 I could feel the emotion of everyone dancing on stage and loved that the more serious parts were compensated with some humor. The whole ballet was 3 hours long but I still never wanted it to end. 😩😭 I swear Richmond Ballet takes it up a notch every year and I cannot wait to see what they do next! 🩰🎻🦢🤩
